Leaving LinkedIn
"Don’t push it. Just let it fall." - Duke Ellington
Several days ago, I stripped out all the profile data from my LinkedIn account and made my last post on the platform:
I'll be leaving LinkedIn soon. Except for today, I don't think I've logged into or given any attention to what's been churning about in the LinkedIn soup for over two years. It stands as yet another example of a once-useful platform that's devolved into a walled garden more interested in cultivating a hodgepodge of echo chambers for luxury beliefs, virtue signaling, groupthink, and the occasional useful bit of business information. If I'm not getting pinged by quota driven keyword recruiters - human and AI - for excitingly perfect job "opportunities" base on technical expertise I had decades ago, it's trolling by perky twenty-something female CEOs with three connections reaching out for a Zoom call to discuss how I've been specially selected to...er..."join their exciting startup." Doubtful the trajectory for becoming more and more like Facebook has altered in the last couple of years and it's not worth my time or effort to filter it out.
Doesn't matter. I've moved on.
I've been on Substack for more than four years now and, for the time being, that's where you can find me. Sorry I can't add links because...well, walled garden. Search for "Stoic Agilist." My latest post is titled "The End of the Line for Agile" and will give anyone involved in any way with implementing or managing Agile methodologies something to chew on, including the image attached to this post.
Or for something different search Substack for "Remanant's Way." Over time, I'll be focusing most of my writing efforts on adding value for those on this path.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
For the moment my LinkedIn profile is serving as a placeholder for my name and at some point I'll delete the entire account. Like other platforms that have succumb to the ravages of the worst elements of contemporary culture, LinkedIn is no longer an inclusive platform and I'm declining to be a part of their product any longer. LinkedIn will not notice my departure and I don't care. Win-win.

What an amazingly hilarious goat meme. I'm on linkedin as well - also just a placeholder and way to network with other like minds that I normally wouldn't find on SS. But the networking needs to be active - posting on others feeds, reaching out...otherwise it's difficult to be found.
Word. 😀 when did LinkedIn become Facebook?
