Bonus: Authentic Narration!
"After about three lessons, my voice teacher said, 'Don’t take voice lessons. Do it your way. You’re a song stylist. Always do it your way.' "- Johnny Cash
Over the span of my life, I've heard from probably hundreds of people that I have a voice for radio. (It's long been established I have a face for radio.) While I've enjoyed the compliments and have had loads of fun telling stories while embellishing them with my vocal high jinks, I've never given much thought as to whether it's a remarkable talent. On Q's prompt, I signed up for a voice acting class at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts taught by Martha Pardee. It was a blast and Martha is awesome!
It's encouraging to be told by a pro with 30+ years in the business that this talent I have is no small thing and something worth developing. I doubt this will be yet another career, but so far it's a lot of fun and I'll see where it goes after a couple more voice acting classes. For certain, it will will make storytelling a lot more fun.
Ah, but it will be important to practice and Q is already getting tired of my Movie Trailer Voice saying things like:
In a world filled with questions, only one demands an answer. Where do you want to go for dinner?
So why should this concern you, Dear Reader? Simple. I'll be torturing you instead. Almost every new post to the Stoic Agilist will include a NON-AI reading of the post. It will be the real deal. Me reading my writing in the voice I intended to carry the message. Undoubtedly, I'll also intersperse side bars, on-the-fly clarifications, and additional musings that won't be part of the written text.
The catch? The audio recordings will be behind the paywall. For two reasons. 1) This is extra work and 2) I don't want this extra work scraped by ravenous AI bots looking for free content. The declaration below should make that clear enough. Send a DM or email me directly if you want to use my audio (or voice) and we can talk terms.
